My Yoga Shelter/Bold Flow story begins on a hot July day in 2009 when I walked into Royal Oak Yoga Shelter and had my whole world rocked. Like so many of you, I walked into that class to get a work out. Little did I know that class would forever alter the course of my life. That class was led by Rob Woollard and the whole thing was incredible…the music, flows, heat, other yogis. A few classes later in Barbi Stalburg’s class, I found myself crying in Pigeon pose…actually sobbing. That continued every single class for a few months every single time I was in Pigeon. That’s where the transformation began. That’s where I took the first step at looking inward for my own happiness. There have been moments of bliss, torture, boredom, and excitement since then. The difference has been that Yoga has taught me that my reaction to any of those feelings is 100% the responsibility of ME, nobody else. WOW! WHAT?!

In the first year after I started a regular yoga practice, I lost two of the closest people to me in my life, both suddenly and one to suicide. That year was the hardest of my life so far. The only one constant healing and guiding light I had was in the Yoga studio, specifically at Yoga Shelter. Yoga Shelter is and always has been about community and the people. That’s why I am here. I owe so much of my life to the Bold Flow community and cannot wait to see it continue to grow. Come and join us! There is nothing like it.

Love and Light,

Katie
